Each year, dating back to 2012, BCSP presents the Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) and Awards of Excellence (AoE) to exceptional credential holders. Awards are typically presented in conjunction with the BCSP Board of Directors meeting each April and, since 2020, have also been broadcast virtually to the world each spring.
The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA), BCSP’s highest honor, acknowledges an outstanding career of service to the profession and lifelong dedication to the craft. In addition to other professional criteria, nominees must have held the Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) credential in good standing for at least 20 years at the time of the nomination deadline and must have worked in the SH&E field for at least 30 years.
The BCSP Board of Directors selects the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient each year after evaluating nominees’ contributions and accomplishments in the following areas: research and innovation, service and mentorship, presentations and publications, and previous awards and honors.

Awards of Excellence
The Awards of Excellence (AoE) recognize BCSP certification holders who best represent outstanding leadership and knowledgeable expertise. Nominees must be active credential holders for at least five (5) years at the time of the submission deadline. Eligible nominees can submit an application for any of BCSP’s eight (8) certifications.
The BCSP Awards Committee selects the Award of Excellence recipients each year after evaluating nominee applications, which include sections for technical expertise and successful results in the safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) profession; voluntary professional contributions; involvement as a mentor; other awards; personal achievements; and professional endorsements.
